An Entrepreneurs Life Without Higher Education

I was probably about 22 years old when someone first told me I was lucky, it was the first of many times that a lot of different people have referred to me as lucky. I started my adult life in a hostel for homeless teenagers so I believe the truth of my young life was very far from lucky and I have had to make my own luck by spotting opportunities, taking risks and putting in the effort, I didn't win the lottery!

Most of the times this has occurred (and in the first instance too) it came during a conversation about education and the person or persons telling me I was lucky are university graduates explaining to me that the reason I am further ahead than them and earning more money at a younger age is because I am lucky. They believe that this could only be possible through chance or luck and could not possibly be down to the fact that I found an easier and better route to success that is free and quick to implement.

I can't generalize too much but a great deal of the college graduates that I have met have a small chip on their shoulder that the world owes them a better life because they earned a degree. I had 3 years head start on these guys and made things happen for myself, by the time they had graduated and were looking for their first rung job I had gained 3 years experience in my chosen field, I was earning good money and was considering starting my first business. If you are a graduate I suspect you probably dislike me don't you? You are not happy reading this and you think I am a smug idiot who got lucky?

If you knew me you would know I am not smug at all and I dedicate most of my time now to helping people achieve new things, to better their situation and make a wealthier, more enjoyable life for themselves. I like to show people that it is not your background, your education (or lack of it), the money you have now, your disabilities, what you have got or what you haven't that shapes your future. It's you, your attitude your enthusiasm and your commitment to being brilliant and remarkable that can change your life. Self belief that you can make it happen and the drive to do it, is really all you need.

I obviously realize that certain professions dictate that a university education is mandatory e.g. doctors, engineers, architects, lawyers etc. I also think that it is a great thing to do if that's what you want but don't believe it's your automatic ticket to success because it is not.

What I have written here is an over simplified summary of what I believe and teach but the principle exists and it works. Most of the entrepreneurs I know never went to university or they dropped out before they graduated. I suspect most of the entrepreneurs you know of did the same. I would make a bet that a good deal of the worlds richest people never graduated from university unless they already came from a wealthy background.

If you look at a lot of sport stars and athletes that come from very poor backgrounds, they never told themselves that they can't make it to the Olympics or the world cup because they are poor and come from a bad neighborhood. They tell themselves: "WHATEVER IT TAKES, I can do it, I will do it, I have to make it". When I left the homeless hostel and took my first steps to becoming an entrepreneur I told myself every day that I was never going back and I was going to make it whatever it takes! I had nothing to lose and I put all my chips down. There is a saying I heard the other day "Drive it like you stole it" in other words put your foot down and hurry up as if the police were chasing. It made me smile and I thought that should be a metaphor for how people should live their lives; we get too comfortable with very little and worry about what we might lose but if we lived like we had all just left a homeless hostel with nothing to lose we might all achieve 10 times more in our lives.

A Complete Education Requires Developing Life Skills

It is as important to develop life skills as it is to transmit information. When the focus is totally on the intellectual approach to education, we develop people who are not well-rounded. A complete education has to involve developing the character of the student. These skills include positive self-image, self-trust, problem-solving and a way of avoiding negative thoughts. We, too often, expect family or religion to develop life skills, but these skills exist within every person. They can be taught in school without contradicting family values, choreographed so that students learn trust, confidence, clarity and problem-solving from their past conditioning. Teachers need to be living examples of how these skills manifest.

We need to look at how attitudes affect education and how they can be controlled. In the American Journal of Medicine, it was reported that the attitude with which a patient enters a doctor's office determines the effectiveness of their treatment. Similarly, the attitude with which a student enters the classroom determines the effectiveness of their education. Attitudes are developed by the subconscious decisions we make when we face a challenge. A healthy attitude can be developed when conscious decisions are made. Our decisions are made based on the self-image we have been conditioned to identify with.

Education in Latin means to draw out. The Wisdom of the Body is the home of powerful inner resources. We draw from The Wisdom of our Body to fully understand and utilize what we have been taught. These resources will be needed in life after school; for instance in job performance, healing skills and in relationships. Life skills help individuals connect to inner wisdom.

The problems we face in the world today require participation from whole individuals. To do that, we need to develop a whole education. Do you think the Wisdom of your Body can help you solve the problems you face? If so, don't you wish you could have learned it in school?

Life Coaching Education From Surprising Places

Life coaching education comes to us when we listen for it. It's in the theater, movies, on the radio and television, even, as I recently discovered, at the opera. Granted, these snippets of coaching are not generally life changing like on-going coaching is, however they are educational and a spring-board of information that can be inspiring, thought provoking, and worth of your processing time.

In the last couple of weeks, various life coaching education lessons have caught my attention, and I would like to share them with you now.

Accountability Coaching from Opera

Recently, the Los Angeles Opera presented Wagner's Ring Cycle-an epic mythology of gods, dwarfs, heroes and men. In the story, Wotan, the king of all gods, has established and agreed to follow the rules of conduct, including the sacredness of marriage and absolute conformity to his commands. When he later wants to take exception to the rules to satisfy his own selfish purposes, his wife offers him some very useful accountability coaching.

She takes it very personally and is livid with him, which is something you would be trained not to do in your life coaching education. She catches him each time he tries to rationalize his actions, points out where he is deceitful to himself and to her, and reminds him that the cost of breaking his commitments will be harsh. She will only be humiliated, but he will suffer scorn from his subjects, and ultimately, his demise as a god. This is a powerful lesson.

Life Coaching Education through Cable TV

HBO cable television broadcasts a documentary series called Masterclass, that features young artists working with a celebrated mentor in creative or performing arts. I watched choreographer Bill T. Jones work with two high school students creating a dance routine with added dialogue. What I heard was some inspired coaching. At one point, when Bill felt the dancers were too timid, not pushing their own envelope enough, he said "Be the hero. Let your strength overcome whatever is negative for you."

Later, he said "Work harder, make more difficult choices to develop your artistry." With his direction he shows his "clients" they do indeed embody heroism, strength, and the ability to pour more of themselves into what their performance with the added ability to conquer any difficulties they may find. This is great coaching, right? Would you put forth your best with a coach who has such faith in you?

Keep your mind open for those lessons in life coaching education that come your way. If you pay attention, you'll discover examples of inspired coaching coming from many places, to offer an extra dimension in your favorite entertainment. Sad to say, I don't believe my opera tickets are tax deductible!

College English - The Course That Prepares The Student For An Educated Life

Any student can take English Composition. In fact, most of the time it is required that every student to take this course as it is considered to be a general study. Even the students who are studying something other than English are normally required to take this class. It doesn't matter who you are or what you want to study in school, taking this course is an essential step in every student's career.

What is English Composition and why is it important for students to take it? English Composition is a course that consists of writing essays that will help students become familiar with literature and to learn how to write to convey an idea. It is essential for all students as it is a foundation for the rest of their academic career. This is a subject that truly has everyday life applications.

Normally, every student, no matter their major, is required to take a core English class while studying in their field. English Composition is the one that is often taken as it not only offers the student writing skills, but it also gives the student brainstorming and critical thinking skills that can be used in any career. These are all essential skills that everyone will use throughout their life.

What will a student actually learn once the course is completed? After a student completes English Composition, they will have learned all the basic skills in writing, such as how to properly prepare an essay, how to use quotes and how to accurately proofread and edit their work. A student will also learn how to use grammar properly and learn the logistics of all literary components.

While most students have to take this course, some students can be dismissed from this course in certain circumstances. If students who are in high school take honor level courses, that can be considered a college level class.

Therefore, if the student takes a course like this in high school and then takes the exam (usually called the College Level Examination Program) at the end of the semester, they may be excused from taking English Composition. The student will need to pass this particular test (CLEP) in order to not have to take this course.

If this is something that interests the student, they should always check with their teacher and professor, as well as the school they are applying to get into, to make sure they understand what is needed to not have to take English Composition. Most schools have the same requirements, but it is always a smart idea for the student to double check to ensure accuracy.

Importance of Value Education

Seven sins: wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, worship without sacrifice, politics without principle.

-Mahatma Gandhi

Just in case you believe that great social problems are beyond your scope, consider this story: God said to me: Your task is to build a better world. I answered: How can I do that? The world is such a large, vast place, so complicated now, and I am so small and useless. There nothing I can do. But God in his great wisdom said: Just build a better you.

- Anonymous

The moral values present a true perspective of the development of any society or nation. They tell us to what extent a society or nation has developed itself. Values are virtues, ideals and qualities on which actions and beliefs are based. Values are guiding principles that shape our world outlook, attitudes and conduct. Values however are either innate or acquired. Innate values are our inborn divine virtues such as love, peace, happiness, mercy and compassion as well as the positive moral qualities such as respect, humility, tolerance, responsibility, cooperation, honesty and simplicity.

Acquired values are those external values adopted at your "place of birth" or "place of growth" and
are influenced by the immediate environment. Examples of acquired values are one's mode of dress, the way you bless, cultural customs, traditions, habits and tendencies.

The main causes of moral degeneration are:

- Lack of respect for the sanctity of human life.

- Breakdown of parental control of children in families

- Lack of respect for authority, seen through the brazen breaking of the law and

Total disregard for rules and regulations

- Crime and corruption

- Abuse of alcohol and drugs

- Abuse of women and children, and other vulnerable members of society.

- Lack of respect for other people and property.

To solve all these type problems it is necessary to know the main causes of the above problems. We know today children are tomorrow's citizens. If we give good education to the present day children, the future of the next generations will be well. My opinion education is the solution for all types of the problems. Now we are living in the modern century. If we use science and technology in the proper way it is not difficult for us to solve all the problems of the non-moral and value things. The main object of the study is to inculcate moral and value based education in schools and colleges and to know the attitude of intermediate students towards moral values. Gandhiji advised the inmates of Sabarmati Ashram on the practice of the following values in their day-
to-day life:

1. Ahimsa

2. Non-stealing

3. Non-possession

4. Swadeshi

5. Manual work

6. Fearlessness

7. Truth

8. Chastity

9. Equality of religion

10. Removal of untouchability

11. Control of palate

Hogan (1973) believes that moral behavior is determined by five factors: (1) Socialization: becoming aware as a child of society's and parents' rules of conduct for being good. (2) Moral
judgment: learning to think reasonably about our own ethics and deliberately deciding on our own
moral standards. (3) Moral feelings: the internalization of our moral beliefs to the degree that we feel shame and guilt when we fail to do what we "should." (4) Empathy: the awareness of other people's situation, feelings, and needs so that one is compelled to help those in need. (5) Confidence and knowledge: knowing the steps involved in helping others and believing that one is responsible for and capable of helping.

Today we facing so many problems like terrorism, poverty and population problem. It is necessary to inculcate moral values in curriculum. Education is an effective weapon. Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it is his handsand at whom it is aimed. (Joseph Stalin)

So called philosophical foundations of India are declining day to day with the country in a state of social turbulence, the goals and functions of formal education need to be reassessed and updated. Through education we can change the world.

- By giving a place for moral values in the curriculum.

- Moral values can be explained through stories and illustrations.

- Through poetry, novel and stories we can inculcate moral values in the students.

- Role play of a good story in the lesson.

- Educate students through posters, advertisements and dramatizations; those are all a part
in the curriculum.

Review of "Education and Significance of Life" - J. Krishnamoorthi

Education and the Significance of Life" by J. Krishnamoorthi is a book for those who are engrossed in understanding the profound meaning of life and importance of education. In this book, J.K. advocates for a life oriented education, more liberal and practical, resulting in effective living.

Krishnamoorthi acknowledges the importance of knowledge and efficiency, but does not make any secret of his concern that overemphasis on them may result only in conflict and confusion. Jiddu Krishnamoorthi questions the link between comfort and security with education as any common man would perceive and also opines that bringing about independent thinking with such a conventional education is next to impossible. Emphasizing the importance of learning to be compassionate, to be content with little, and to seek the supreme, J.K. feels only this path can lead to the true salvation of mankind.

According to J.K., education is just not a process of accumulating information and knowledge from books, but is the understanding of oneself, for it is within each one of us. Peace and happiness for men, J.K. says can come only with self-awareness that brings a change of heart, good will and inward transformation.

The master feels that to merely educate people to be brilliant engineers, luminous scientists, proficient executives, competent workmen etc. cannot account for the world peace. J.K. feels education should eliminate enmity and hatred between human beings and help each individual to discover their own psychological hindrances, and not merely impose new patterns of conduct and new modes of thought on the learner.

The passion for living beings induces J.K. to express the need for the teachers and parents to be rightly educated, so that pure knowledge shall be imparted to their pupil. Silence as a means to enhance creativity and to enjoy the beauty is strongly advocated by J.K.

Education should be a 'life transforming process' according to this great spiritual soul. There is not an iota of doubt that this book and the master will ever dwell in human minds, transforming practical wisdom of the highest order.

Education Is Compulsory For Your Child's Life

Directly or indirectly, the prospect of a family or a country depends on the future of a child. So, initially it appears to be an obligation for a family and the country to provide a child, almost every chance to grow or to prosper physically as well as mentally. This is because the future of a country and a family is subjected to the present of a child. We have seen that the countries, which fall in the category of under-developed, are facing the major problem of illiteracy.

Countries like Africa, South Africa, and Afghanistan etc, have not progressed yet because they have the lowest ratio of education. Whist, countries like America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia etc are in the race of developed countries. The major reason behind their development and progress is their standardized educational system. If we only take an example of the UK, she has the high literacy rate of 99%.

The above mentioned statistics show the significance of education in the life of a country. It not just contributes to a country's development and growth but also revolutionizes a young's mind to civility.

Undeniable strength of a foundation

Not even a single thing can stand or maintain its position without the support of a solid foundation. Every young mind requires stable nourishment for its growth in the shape of education. In this process, formal education plays a fundamental part, which a child acquires from schools like primary schools, prep schools, private schools or secondary schools.

School is the initial home of education, where one gets familiar with the basic principles of a right and a wrong. Country like UK has made education a compulsion for all children.

We observe that in many countries acquiring education formally has not become a necessary part as it should have become up till now. Parents should admit and realize the deep-seated strength of education for his/her child because education is as important as a healthy diet for a proper physical and mental health. It is such a strength and vigour which, itself empowers the keeper.

Many ancient thinkers, philosophers, and writers like Aristotle, Plato, and Einstein, etc have written books in the significance of education. Aristotle's writing encompasses morality and aesthetics, logic and science, politics and metaphysics. This wide range of study reflects that acquiring education or knowledge is being honoured by the ancients, who have excelled almost in every field of the study.

Why to choose a good educational institution for your child?

The major reason why a school is regarded as a significant part of a child's growth is that it gives high precedence to enhancing young child's social development. This is so because social behaviourism and interaction of a human child begins in the early years.

Put briefly, it is appropriate to introduce your child with the regular and formal rules or terms of living in a society in educational institutes like school.

Philosophy of Life - Education

Truth calls us to submit ourselves to the community of which we are a part, to fidelity to those bonds of troth in which our truth resides. This view is dangerous, for submission, will transform us, require us to become something new. In truth our lives are no longer our own but belong to the whole community of creation" (Palmer, To Know As We Are Known, pp. 67-68).

Palmer has within this quote nested the role and effects of truth within our concept of who we are and what we are. One of the fears attending those who truly strive to change, refine and improve who they are, is whether their developing character, persistence and clarity of vision will sustain them in this endeavor throughout their life. The first fear I felt at that moment, when I realized I was experiencing a form of illumination and insight unique to human experience, was whether I could remain true to that vision and thereby exemplify the obedience to that truth, that would prepare me to again receive such a life-clarifying experience.

Who I am cannot be separated from the principles and truths that give meaning and direction to my life. As I refine and become this person I believe myself to be, then that awareness dictates expectations that guide me in how and what becomes meaningful and truthful in my life. When a teacher focuses on the expression of learning (homework, written assignments, oral responses) without an appreciation for how that learning defines the learner and without a regard for compassion for who the learner is, then the learner will experience a deterioration of his/her self-identity.

This deterioration might be reflected in a short story. In an elementary class, a teacher held up a self-portrait of one of her students. This student was shy, seldom spoke or participated in discussions, was not well-treated by other students and at other times, basically ignored. The teacher wanted to show the effect negative comments and exchanges could have on a child.

She started by telling the children she had a story to tell about the person in the picture. When the student got on the bus, the bus driver growled at her and said hurry up, I'm late. The teacher tore off a piece of the girl's self-portrait. When the student got off the bus, a boy bumped into her and said, "Why don't you watch out where you are going!" The teacher tore off another piece of the girl's self-portrait. When the little girl went to place her coat and bag on a shelf, another student said, "You can't put your stuff there, that is my place!" The teacher tore off another piece of the girl's self-portrait. During the reading class, the teacher asked the shy girl a question, but she was slow to respond, so the teacher ignored her and let another student respond. The teacher then tore off another piece of the girl's self-portrait. When the children went to lunch in the school cafeteria, an older child bumped into her and knocked some of her food on the floor and then someone yelled at her, "Clean that up!" Another piece of the girl's self-portrait was torn off. By now, there wasn't much left of the little girl. At the end of the day, the little girl began to cry, and a classmate said, "Don't be a cry baby." Something inside the little girl died just a little bit each time part of her self-portrait was torn away.

The class became very silent. They felt the pain. They didn't like the feeling. They knew it wasn't right. The teacher then led a discussion on how each student could do his/her part to restore the little girl's self-portrait and thereby the self-image of whom she is and the role she might assume in the class.

Palmer implores us to heal the wounds that society inflicts upon its members. Teachers should be experts at healing the wounds of personal identity, of nurturing and sustaining a child's vision and/or belief in whom she/he can become. How I view myself allows me to give space to others that they too may view themselves. Part of who they are I can see, and part of who they are is inside of them and I can only see that by what they choose and reveal to me. Many are afraid to go inside themselves because others diminished and marginalized who they were becoming. I must create a space that allows them to recognize their place.

As I was growing up and learning to make friends, I realized that the people I knew had one of two influences on me. They either influenced me to care more or to care less about life and its various activities. This idea has served me well over time. The influence of this class, our discussions and the increased skill we are gaining in expressing ideas, truths and identities, has led me to another realization. This realization impacts our ability to sustain those positive attributes and features of our identity, especially under duress.

The people I associate with continue to have one of two influences in my life. They either expand and enhance my identity or, they diminish and marginalize it. This principle is experienced in our schools everyday with profound negative effects on a student's identity and their social role. This realization is similar to an observation skill I learned while studying and enjoying photography. When I would look at a person to take their picture, I noticed that their facial symmetry was not exactly balanced. Each person's nose points either to the left or the right; I don't know which way dominates. I also realized that a feature of beauty occurred when a person's facial symmetry was more balanced.

What does facial symmetry have to do with expanding or diminishing who we are? Philosophically, I have been able to refine an earlier principle, and in the process heightened my awareness of how our interactions influence and affect our identity. This principle is important in how teachers and persons in positions of authority magnify or marginalize other people, especially students.

This paper is about the importance of identity for all people, adults and adolescents, and how this impacts the quality and kind of interaction between teacher and learner. It provides a philosophical basis and understanding of the adage, "I don't care how much you know until I know how much you care!" I also hope to demonstrate by a few experiences how education's lack of whole vision or misunderstanding of the importance of individual identity and social role is frustrating the learner and corrupting the learning environment.

II         Space/Leaving some things unsaid.

An experience happened this semester that helped me to understand a person's identity and how I might enlarge it, yet challenge the person's role as a learner.

Walter, not his real name, was in one of my classes and having difficulties. These difficulties resulted in his distracting the large group teacher and getting in trouble. We got along all right in the small group class because I was able to interact with him more easily because there were fewer students and the rapport in the class was different.

Later in the semester, he was having some difficulties again. While the class was busy with a group activity, I invited Walter to visit with me to the side of the classroom. He came over, sat down, and tensed up his demeanor. He was ready to be reprimanded for his disturbance. He was ready to experience another negative teacher-student private conference. He had heard it before and would probably hear it again.

I smiled at him. He looked at me, a little confused. I asked him how things were going in his other classes. His face lighted up and the tension seemed to go out of his body. I talked to him about him. I encouraged him. I didn't act like his teacher and I didn't treat him like my student and it made a difference on the inside of him that shined on the outside, through the tone of his voice, the attentiveness of his eyes and the smile on his face. We felt good together.

Life Experiences Are Most Important Education

Have you ever wondered why certain extremely intelligent and well educated individuals, with impressive advanced degrees, often appear to be somewhat ignorant, continuously making decisions that appear incredulous? Simply explained, there is a big difference between "book smarts" and "street smarts," and while people may be well educated, it doesn't always make them smart. Paul Simon addressed that fact in his song "Kodachrome," with the verse, "But my life of education hasn't hurt me none. I can read the writing on the wall." However, I feel that the brilliant Albert Einstein best described what education is really all about when he wrote, "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one learned in school."

1. This seeming contradiction between book and street smarts often arises when one evaluates organizational leadership. Many of the organizations I have consulted to in the last more than three decades have continuously elected extremely well educated individuals to be their leaders. Unfortunately, many of these individuals lacked many of the traits and qualifications that makes one an effective leader, and thus often did less than a stellar job in that position. Perhaps surprisingly (or maybe not), I often found it far more challenging to bring these "book smart" leaders up to a more satisfactory level, while others with less academic accolades, often out- performed them. I believe that many times those who have achieved success and excelled academically in their own fields often become somewhat arrogant, believing because of their advanced degree and academic superiority, that they did not need to listen to someone else regarding their suggestions. Since so much about being an effective leader is about attitude, human (people) skills, and integrity, as well as using specific related experiences to gain essential expertise, often that life of education does not translate directly to effective leadership.

2. Few people actually end up doing their life's work in the industry that they majored in college, as few philosophy majors become career philosophers, and only a small percentage of psychology majors ever end up being psychologists, etc. True education is using all skills acquired, which include skills and knowledge explained from books, but predominantly comes from life experiences.

However, life experiences themselves are not educational unless someone actually learns lessons from those experiences. Have you ever wondered why so many people who have experiences never become true experts? The fact is that it depends on how one handles experiences, what he learns from those experiences, how he uses them, and whether or not they were positive experiences. I have met many people in my over 30 years in the events industry who have told me they knew what they were doing because they were "experienced" who garnered little expertise because, just as the athlete who practices with poor form (and thus never achieves his potential), also did not learn from those experiences enough practical and essential information to gain enough real and practical expertise.

Life Centered Career Education

Life centered career education address the needs of students with learning disabilities, students with mild mental disabilities and students at risk. The curriculum includes various training programs that provide education and training to develop skills useful to this challenged segment of society. These programs teach students to function independently and productively as family members and citizens. The process of learning incorporates training in liaison with family members or available friends.

The first step in the training process is to assess individuals and determine whether such training would be beneficial to them. For this purpose, there are various verbal and non-verbal tests.

On the basis of these assessments and certain observations, a student is accepted in the correct type of training program. The present level of competencies is determined and an individual educational program (IEP) is prepared with a set of objectives. This plan is a program of education for the particular student. Systematic instructional content is prepared and elaborated into a curriculum in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Life centered career education allows society to address the needs of the physically or mentally challenged segment of population. The main components of this training are daily living skills, personal-social skills, occupational guidance and preparation.

The curriculum focuses on reaching the goals with a lot of flexibility provided to the trainer and the student.

Daily living skills segments teach students to manage day-to-day tasks such as personal activities, food preparation, household management and personal finance management. ""Personal social skills"" segments focus on relations with other people. These enhance the self-confidence of the student and hence improve his decision-making skills. Lastly, a very important part of the training is to find a suitable job for the candidates. Life centered career education addresses this concern by training students and providing occupational guidance according to the specific competency skills.

Assessment is a very important part of life centered career education. It includes various assessment devices along with the requirements for testing. Overall, life centered career education opens up opportunities for growth and personal satisfaction to the people who participate in these programs.

One of the main areas of a child's life that affects how well she will grow into a successful, competent adult is that of education. And the major issue that affects a child's education is directly related to the quality and competence of the teachers she has. Nowhere is this more important than in the first three grades of school. These are the years where children are learning the basics in reading and mathematics.

There are specific actions a parent can take that will increase the likelihood of their children receiving effective instruction at school. The most important one is to determine the quality of their child's teacher. The best way do go about this is to visit the classroom and observe the teacher and then have a conversation with her. There are several specific things you are looking for: What does the teacher value in the classroom? Observe the classroom, looking around to see how the classroom is arranged and what is on the walls. You are looking for students work displayed.

Watch how the teacher interacts with all of the students and how she handles the interaction between students.

Talk with the teacher about instruction, particularly in reading and math. Ask about what you can do at home to help your child.

Talk with the teacher about your child, looking for specific things about your child and how she is doing. Share with her any information that will help her deal with you child.

Pay attention to how your child talks about school when she comes home from school.

Listen as she talks about her desire to learn and how she feels about school and her teacher when discussing her school experience

It is critical that you be involved in your child's education, what she is learning, how she is doing in the basic subjects, and what can be done to assure she is on or above grade level in both math and reading in these very vulnerable early grades.
